Note; Can a Juror determine truth without hearing ALL of the evidence?  It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that one hear ALL of the evidence, beginning with Part #1 of these posts!

In PART# 13, the JURY heard the Testimony of "Documented Human History" regarding ancient Roman Culture in our efforts to identify Daniel's "Little Horn".

Let us call "Documented Human History" to the Witness Stand that the JURY may hear the TESTIMONY OF A 2300 year old "unbroken"  PAGAN ROMAN RELIGIOUS TITLE OF AUTHORITY

       Earlier, the JURY heard Testimony of how;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_Rome

EARLY PAGAN ROME was ruled by Kings.

Roman Kings were the Head of the PAGAN ROMAN RELIGION.

The 2nd Roman King created the PAGAN RELIGIOUS TITLE "Pontifex Maximus".

The Collegium Pontificum (College of Pontiffs) was the most important priesthood of ancient Rome.

The foundation of this sacred college and the office of Pontifex Maximus is attributed to the second king of RomeNuma Pompilius.

  • According to the usual interpretation, the term pontifex literally means "bridge-builder" (pons + facere); "maximus" literally means "greatest".

  • "Pontifex Maximus" literally means "Greatest Bridge Builder" between PAGAN GODS and Humans.

  • The people knew the king as a mediator between them and the gods (cf. Latin pontifex "bridge-builder", in this sense, between man and the godsand thus viewed the king with religious awe.

  • The last PAGAN ROMAN KING(Pontifex Maximus) was deposed in 509 BC.

  • The ROMAN REPUBLIC was established in 509 BC when last Roman king was deposed.

In the Roman Republicthe Pontifex Maximus was the highest office in the state religion of ancient Rome and directed the College of Pontiffs.

This was the most important position in the ancient Roman religionopen only to patricians until 254 BC, when a plebeian first occupied this post.

Towards the end of the Roman Republic, the citizens of Rome grew restless and desired a single entity to rule over them.

Rome became an "imperial" state, WITH AN EMPEROR in 146 BC. (13 years before "Satan's Seat" was given to Rome)

The JURY SHOULD NOTE that the Roman Emperor DID NOT rise up out of Rome AFTER "Satan's Seat" was GIVEN to Rome, but 13 years earlier.

In the early Empire, the pretense of a republican form of government was maintained.

The Roman Emperor was portrayed as only a princeps, or "first citizen", and the Senate gained legislative power and all legal authority previously held by the popular assemblies.

However, BEGINNING WITH AUGUSTUS about 27 BC, the Emperor was declared a God, and the Senate was reduced to an advisory body appointed by the Emperor.

With the accession of Augustus, the election of the Pontifex Maximus ceased as each successive emperor held the office. (Emperor list)

The JURY SHOULD NOTE that when the Title "Pontifex Maximus" was assumed by the ROMAN Catholic Churchthe election of the Pontifex Maximus resumed, even unto this day.

  • A distinctly religious office under the early Roman Republicit gradually became politicized untilbeginning with Augustus, it was subsumed into the Imperial office

However, it was always understood in its symbolic sense as well: the pontifices were the ones who smoothed the "bridge" between gods and men (Van Haeperen).

The word "pontifex" later became a term used for Christian bishops, including the Bishop of Rome, and the title of "Pontifex Maximus" was applied within the Roman Catholic Church to the Pope as its chief bishop.

Its last use with reference to the emperors is in inscriptions of Gratian (reigned 375–383) who, however, then decided to omit the words "pontifex maximus" from his title.

  • In 382 AD, when the Eastern emperor Theodosius established "Catholic Christianity" as the official religion of the empire, the Western Emperor Gratian relinquished the office to the Christian Popes of Rome, who have held it since that time.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the JURY, You have heard the TESTIMONY of a Roman PAGAN "TITLE" of religious authority that has remained "unbroken" since Rome became the UNDISPUTED World Superpower in 281 BC.

  •        Originally, during the PAGAN ROMAN KINGDOM, held by the Roman Kings.

  •        In the PAGAN ROMAN EMPIRE, held by the "Highest Pagan Priest".

  •        In the PAGAN ROMAN IMPERIAL STATE, eventually granted to each Emperor.

  •        In 27 BC "automatically bestowed upon" the Emperor at the start of their "reign".

  •        In 382 AD, when the Eastern emperor Theodosius established "CATHOLIC " Christianity as the official religion of the empire, the Western Emperor Gratian relinquished the office to the Christian Popes of Romewho have held it since that time.

Political Rome may have received it's "deadly head wound" hundreds of years ago.

       The Supreme ROMAN Title of religious authorityPontifex Maximus LIVED ON to RISE UP OUT OF A DIMINISHING ROME;

  • and  HAS REMAINED AN "unbroken" "WORLD SUPERPOWER" title of authority for ALMOST 2300 YEARS.

DANIEL 8

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred daysthen shall the sanctuary be cleansed

The TITLE "Pontifex Maximus" is the ONLY 2300 YEAR OLD Key that ties all of "Documented Human History" to the described actions of the "Little Horn".

In the next Post, the Jury will hear further testimony that examines the "History and Actions of the Pontifex Maximus" compared to the description of DANIEL'S "Little Horn".
